The opposition party of Punjab - Congress staged a protest against Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The protest took place outside the state assembly on Tuesday, with the Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa slamming both the Punjab and Haryana governments regarding their approach towards the ongoing farmers' protest.

Delhi and Haryana police hold no right to obstruct the farmers' movement, Bajwa stated furthermore accusing the Haryana police of rendering harm to the agitated farmers.

"The manner in which Punjab was barricaded by the Central Government as well as the Haryana Government. Business suffered. At this time, the state government and the CM himself should have gone to the centre with the demands of the farmers. This is a border state, it is essential to maintain peace in a state with an international border. But the CM did not shoulder his responsibility," the leader of the opposition then added.

"Haryana Police put up barricades, came within Punjab's area, and affected around 300 people. One young man was killed, 8-9 farmers have died but what is our Police doing?" Bajwa questioned.

Meanwhile, earlier on March 4, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge also fiercely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government, alleging it of taking an "anti-farmer" position and depicting farmers as opponents for asserting their rights.
