Rajasthan’s Cabinet expansion to take place today

Bharatiya Janata Party-led Rajasthan administration is set for a cabinet expansion on Saturday.

Bharatiya Janata Party-led Rajasthan administration is set for a cabinet expansion on Saturday, almost a month following the announcement of Lok Sabha election results. The oath of office for BJP MLAs will be administered by Governor Kalraj Mishra during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan at 3:30 pm, according to official sources.

Ahead of the ceremony, Ramganj Mandi MLA Madan Dilawar reached the BJP office here and met senior party leaders. Garhi MLA Kailash Meena arrived in Jaipur from Udaipur. Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain also left for Jaipur.

Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are underway at Raj Bhavan. Nearly 18-20 MLA’s will be taking oath today in the Rajasthan cabinet.

Ahead of the cabinet expansion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma met the BJP high command in Delhi on Friday.

The results for the Rajasthan assembly elections were announced on December 3 with the BJP winning 115 of the 199 seats on which polling was held. The party declared Sharma, a first-time MLA, as the chief minister and Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa as the deputy chief ministers on December 12.

Meanwhile, Congress and the various other opposition leaders have slammed the saffron party for the delay in cabinet expansion. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot previously remarked that the state's governance had come to a halt amid delay in forming the cabinet.

Writing on “X” platform, Gehlot said, “Disappointment has now begin spreading among the public because the people of Rajasthan gave a clear mandate to BJP on December 3,  but even after 22 days, the cabinet has not been formed yet, due to which governance has come to a standstill. Every department is also in a state of confusion."

"The public is watching which ministers they should approach to solve their problems. The cabinet should be formed as soon as possible so that the functioning of the government can run smoothly," commented Gehlot.
