NC Vice President Omar Abdullah on Friday welcomed Arvind Kejriwal's bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi excise case.
Abdullah said matters related to law are resolved in court and not through elections. While congratulating Kejriwal on his release, Omar said, “Congratulations to him. Coming out (from jail) is only through court.”
The people of Baramulla were betrayed during the Lok Sabha elections when they were told that they could bring anyone out merely by casting votes in his favour, he added. “Nobody is released through votes; it is done only through court.”
Abdullah was indirectly referring to the people of Baramulla who voted for Engineer Rashid in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Rashid defeated Abdullah and Sajad Gani Lone by a margin of more than two lakh.
Abdullah congratulated him on the win, but maintained that his (engineer’s) win served no purpose.
Disheartened by the results, Abdullah had decided that he would not contest the assembly elections, but later reversed his decision and announced his candidature in two Assembly constituencies of Budgam and Ganderbal, where voting will take place in the second phase.
