Another political jolt to Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party, as party leader Robin Sampla, the nephew of Vijay Sampla switched to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the state on Tuesday.
Robin joined AAP in Chandigarh in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Vijay Sampla is the former National Commission for Scheduled Castes chairman.
Remained vice president of Punjab BJP’s SC Morcha, Robin is reportedly aiming for a ticket from the Jalandhar West seat, following the resignation of former AAP MLA Sheetal Angural, who is now in the saffron party fold.
Recently, there were also speculations of Vijay Sampla considering a shift to another party, prompted by his displeasure over the BJP's allocation of the Hoshiarpur ticket to Anita Som Parkash, wife of Union Cabinet Minister Som Parkash.
As per the sources, Sunil Jakhar, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab unit called upon Vijay Sampla to appease him.
