The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is set to kick off the 'Punjab Bachao Yatra' from the Indo-Pak border in Attari on February 1. The month-long yatra, led by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, will traverse 43 constituencies in the state.

The announcement was made by Senior SAD leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema during a media briefing on Friday. The yatra aims to shed light on the contributions of successive SAD governments to Punjab's development while exposing perceived failures of the incumbent administrations.

Dr. Cheema emphasized that both the previous Congress government and the current AAP government had allegedly reneged on promises made to the people, failing to deliver on development, employment, and improvements in the condition of farmers, traders, and weaker sections of society. The yatra's agenda includes canvassing public opinion on the performance of these governments and drawing comparisons with the achievements of the erstwhile SAD governments.

Sukhbir Singh Badal is slated to meet and interact with the public at designated locations in each constituency, addressing their concerns directly. The SAD leadership claims that grievances span across various sections of society, citing issues such as delayed compensation for farmers, curtailed social welfare benefits, and alleged preferential treatment of outsiders over Punjab youth in government recruitment.

Additionally, the 'Punjab Bachao Yatra' will shine a spotlight on concerns related to law and order, the purported rise of a gangster culture leading to a shift of investors out of Punjab, and the large-scale illegal sand mining allegedly involving AAP legislators and ministers. The yatra will also address issues of political vendetta, corruption, and what the SAD sees as a surrender on core Punjab matters by the AAP government, including river waters and the state capital.

The detailed schedule for the yatra spans from February 1 to February 28, covering constituencies such as Attari, Majitha, Amritsar City, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Bathinda, and Mansa, among others. The SAD aims to use this extensive tour to engage with the public, gather feedback, and build momentum ahead of the upcoming political landscape in Punjab.
