Security has been intensified in Jharkhand’s capital city Ranchi, especially near the Chief Minister’s official residence since Monday morning after the Enforcement Directorate team from Ranchi reached Chief Minister Soren’ official residence in Delhi to interrogate him in a land scam-related case. However, CM Soren is said to be ‘untraceable’ at the time of filing of this report.
Sources said that the ED team reached around 7:30 am at the 5/1 Shantiniketan residence of CM Hemant Soren in New Delhi, but he was not found there. Senior officials of ED stayed for a couple of hours at the site and have left. However, a team of ED officials is still camping at CM Soren’s residence. It is being said that the ED officials along with Delhi police are now searching for CM Soren at Jharkhand Bhawan and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren’s residence in Delhi.
Notably, in the wake of a possible law and order situation in the event of ED’s action on CM Soren, security has been intensified in Jharkhand’s capital city, where the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha workers and supporters have launched a protest against ED and the Central government.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner were summoned at the Chief Secretary’s residence in the morning where they were said to have been instructed to be prepared for any law and order situation in the wake of a possible ED action against Soren.
Senior police officials of the State including Ranchi Zone IG also reached the Chief Secretary’s house to discuss the law and order situation.
Meanwhile, JMM bigwigs in Ranchi, including CM’s younger brother and MLA Basant Soren have started calling party MLAs to reach Ranchi at the earliest. Congress has also alerted its MLAs to stay in Ranchi and be prepared for any situation.
The CM was served the 10th summon to appear before ED officials in a land scam-related case after his interrogation in the case on January 20. Although Soren had said that he was busy, the ED said it would interrogate him between January 29 and 31.
