Manish Sisodia, a senior leader of the AAP, is scheduled to have a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today. This meeting comes after the party leader announced his decision to resign and refrain from occupying the chief minister's position until he receives a "certificate of honesty" from the people.
The AAP national convener stated that he and Manish Sisodia will assume the roles of chief minister and deputy chief minister, respectively, only when the public acknowledges their honesty.
A party functionary on Monday said, "Kejriwal and Sisodia will be meeting today. This will be the first meeting after the decision by them. The meeting is also likely to see a discussion over the next chief minister." The meeting is slated to be held at the chief minister's official residence in the Civil Lines area.
Kejriwal, who was granted bail from Tihar Jail in the excise policy graft case on Friday, has stated that he plans to convene a meeting of the AAP MLAs within the next few days, during which one of his party colleagues will assume the role of chief minister.
His surprising announcement has sparked strong speculation regarding the potential successors, with his wife Sunita, and his ministers Atishi and Gopal Rai being among the names mentioned.
