The Delhi High Court has summoned Congress leader Shashi Tharoor following a defamation suit filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has set the hearing for April 28.
The court ordered, "Let the plaint be registered as a suit. Issue summons to the defendant (Tharoor). List before the joint registrar on April 28."

In his suit, Chandrasekhar claims that Tharoor made false and defamatory remarks in April 2024. These statements, he argues, have severely damaged his personal and professional reputation. Chandrasekhar is seeking an injunction to stop Tharoor from making further defamatory comments.
Chandrasekhar has also demanded a public apology from Tharoor and ₹10 crore in damages for allegedly tarnishing his reputation.
The defamation case is based on comments Tharoor reportedly made during a television interview. In the interview, Tharoor allegedly accused Chandrasekhar of offering money to voters during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
