They said 'accept nahi karenge': Punjab Governor Purohit on his resignation

Breaking the silence on his resignation, he said, “They said ‘accept nahi karenge’ (will not be accepted) so I am here. I wanted to go purely for family reasons. My wife came from Nagpur and went after 10 days. I wanted to go for my family…for no other reason.”

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday informed that he will continue to hold the position since his resignation has not been accepted by President Droupadi Murmu. The Governor submitted his resignation on February 3, 2024. 

 

Breaking the silence on his resignation, he said, “They said ‘accept nahi karenge’ (will not be accepted) so I am here. I wanted to go purely for family reasons. My wife came from Nagpur and went after 10 days. I wanted to go for my family…for no other reason.” 

 

Purohit has been serving as the 29th Governor of Punjab, and Administrator of Chandigarh since September 2021.

 

Besides this, Purohit announced the addition of 100 electric buses to Chandigarh. At present, 80 electric buses are running in the Union Territory. 

 

It has been almost two-and-a-half years that I have been the administrator now. I promise that within two years, Chandigarh will be in the top five. The new plant (Dadumajra garbage processing plant) that will come up…will not create any problems for next 50 years ...Tendering of the same is in process,” the Punjab Governor further reaffirmed.
