Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai signalled that the DMK–Congress partnership would continue unchanged, effectively shutting down speculation about the Congress possibly moving towards a tie-up with the TVK (Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam). Dismissing talk of strain within the INDIA bloc, he asserted that the alliance remained "strong" and "together at all times."

Speaking at a DMK event where Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was also present on stage, Selvaperunthagai directly addressed the buzz surrounding the Congress–TVK equation.

"All of you know that for the last two months there are rumours about what’s going to happen to this alliance and what direction this alliance was heading in," he said, adding that more announcements would be made in the coming days "to put an end to these rumours."

Reiterating that the bloc stood united, the TNCC chief said the INDIA alliance would "always be together," pushing back against talk of any rift among its partners in Tamil Nadu.

His comments came soon after weeks of rumours that senior Congress leaders were warming up to the TVK and attempting to convince the party high command to leverage actor Vijay’s popularity in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry ahead of the elections.

Earlier, Congress MP Manickam Tagore had said actor Vijay was emerging as a major force challenging the opposition INDIA alliance in Tamil Nadu. Tagore added that the Congress respected anyone opposing the BJP and RSS, welcomed Vijay’s stance against the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and delimitation, and noted that while it was too early to discuss a formal alliance with TVK, it could not be ruled out.

Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of jointly misleading people and protecting those involved in "vote theft".

He used a satirical story of "two thieves," likening the AIADMK to the first and the "BJP-led Election Commission" to the second, accusing them of jointly misleading people and protecting those involved in "vote theft. "He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising Raja Raja Chola now, saying the Centre had earlier refused Tamil Nadu's request for a statue of the emperor.
