The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has initiated widespread legal action against what it describes as a coordinated and malicious digital campaign targeting senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and insulting the dignity of women. The campaign, according to the IYC, revolves around a doctored image and an obscene video linked to a sanitary pad distribution initiative in Bihar, aimed at mocking both Rahul Gandhi and a women-centric welfare effort.

The IYC's response is being spearheaded under the supervision and leadership of National In-Charge Shri Krishna Allavaru, National President Shri Uday Bhanu Chib, and National Legal Cell Chairman Shri Roopesh Singh Bhadauria. The party claims that the offensive content was first circulated on July 5, by Ratan Ranjan and further spread by social media users including @MrSinha_, Arun Kosli, Sanjay Nirupam, Advocate Sunil Sharma, Rishi Bagree, and several others identified as habitual offenders.
The IYC described the material as vulgar, doctored, and politically motivated, stating that it used a serious women’s issue as a tool for misogynistic propaganda and character assassination.

Legal complaints have been filed in several states. In Karnataka, an FIR has been lodged at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru under Sections 192, 336(4), 354, 294, 196, and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
In New Delhi, a complaint has been filed at Mandir Marg Police Station, and a parallel complaint has also been submitted via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal by Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress Legal Cell Chairman Shri Vivek Punia. In Telangana, the legal action has been led by State Legal Cell President Advocate Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy and Coordinator Advocate Gudur Nikhil Reddy, resulting in the registration of an FIR against the accused individuals.

Reacting strongly, IYC Legal Cell In-Charge Krishna Allavaru stated that the BJP had crossed all limits of political decency and accused its IT cell of trying to deflect attention from an impending defeat in Bihar by spreading digitally altered content. He asserted that this was more than a personal attack on Rahul Gandhi—it was an affront to every Indian woman and an act deserving of serious legal consequences. IYC National President Shri Uday Bhanu Chib called the BJP’s act a new low, condemning the distortion of a public welfare initiative into a vulgar smear campaign. He said that weaponising menstruation to score political points was not just distasteful but a misogynistic disgrace, and emphasised that disinformation aimed at political leaders is not protected as free speech but amounts to criminal speech.

Echoing similar sentiments, National Legal Cell Chairman Shri Roopesh Singh Bhadauria called the incident a criminal conspiracy that degrades women, distorts public discourse, and vilifies the opposition leader.
He said the IT cell's actions mocked menstruation and used it as a tool to humiliate Rahul Gandhi Ji. The IYC stated unequivocally that legal action has already begun and offenders will be held accountable under all relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT laws. The organisation vowed swift, severe, and permanent consequences, stressing that this was just the beginning and that there would be no leniency for those responsible.
