A total of 483 candidates filed their nomination papers for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly (J&K) polls as the last date for filing the papers ended on Thursday, September 12.
Forty assembly constituencies in seven districts will be voting for phase-III on October 1, which will officially mark the end of the polls in J&K.
A total of 518 nomination papers by 483 candidates have been filed for this phase of the upcoming elections, said ECI in a statement.
While 122 candidates have filed their candidature papers in Jammu, Baramulla had 111 nominations, followed by Kupwara, where 80 candidates filed their nominations, while 50 candidates filed their papers in Bandipora.
Similarly, 47 papers were filed in Kathua, 40 in Udhampur, and 33 in the Samba district.
The notification for phase-III was issued on September 5, 2024, and the last date for filing nomination papers closed on Thursday, September 12, till 3 pm.
The papers are being scrutinised by returning officers today, ie September 13.
The last date to withdraw nomination papers is September 17, 2024, up to 3 pm in the office of the respective returning officer.
Polling for the 40 assembly constituencies in the third and final phase will commence on October 1, 2024.
Voting will start at 7 am and continue up to 6 pm, and the results will be declared on October 8.
