Sunrisers Hyderabad were on Thursday hit with another injury blow as England left-arm seamer David Payne was ruled out of the remainder of the IPL season after suffering an ankle injury.
The 35-year-old had played the first two matches for SRH, picking up two wickets, including a disciplined spell against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
“David Payne has been ruled out of TATA IPL 2026 after sustaining an ankle injury,” SRH said in a post on X. “Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

The 2016 champions, currently placed fourth on the points table with two wins and three losses, have been affected by a string of injuries this season. Earlier, England pacer Brydon Carse was also ruled out after sustaining a hand injury at the start of the campaign, following which SRH brought in Sri Lanka fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka as his replacement.
Regular captain Pat Cummins has also missed action this season due to a stress injury. However, he has now recovered and is expected to return to the squad later this month.
