Arch rivals Mohan Bagan, East Bengal pooled together

Both the teams have neck to neck competition with each other. With East Bengal holding a record of 139 wins and Mohan Bagan has 128 derby wins. However, Mohan Bagan has maintained its status of unbeaten record in Kolkata derby wins and a draw against its arch-rival East Bengal in the last match of Indian Super League in March.

Mohan Bagan and East Bengal will face each other again in Durand Cup.


The domestic season of 133rd edition of Durand Cup that is scheduled to begin on July 27 will witness last year’s finalists East Bengal and Mohan Bagan Super Giant again in a face-off this tournament.

 

A total of 24 teams will be competing with each other. The teams have been alphabetically divided in six groups of four each.  

Both the teams clubbed together in Group A with Indian Air Force FT and Downtown Heroes FC, hosted By Kolkata.

 

Both the teams have neck to neck competition with each other. With East Bengal holding a record of 139 wins and Mohan Bagan has 128 derby wins. However, Mohan Bagan has maintained its status of unbeaten record in Kolkata derby wins and a draw against its arch-rival East Bengal in the last match of Indian Super League in March.  

 

Kolkata will host the matches of two more groups, Group B featuring matches between,  Bengaluru FC, Inter Kashi FC, Indian Navy FT, Mohammedan SC and Group C has clubbing together of Kerala Blasters FC, Mumbai City FC, Punjab FC, CISF Protectors FT. The city is also scheduled to host the final on August 31 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK).

 

Whereas, Kokrajhar has been allotted Group E will host for the second time. The featured matches in the group are Odisha FC, NorthEast United FC, Bodoland FC, and BSF FT.

 

This year’s season will see two cities Jameshdpur and Shillong hosting for the first time. The three glittering trophies marked their way to XLRI Auditorium and U Soso Tham Auditorium in Secretariat Hillson on Friday.

 

The designated groups to these cities are Group D (Jamshedpur) will face matches between Jamshedpur FC, Chennaiyin FC, Indian Army FT, and Bangladesh Army FT and Group F (Shillong) will display the game between FC Goa, Hyderabad FC, Shillong Lajong FC, and Tribhuvan Army FC.
