Arsenal strengthened their grip at the top of the Premier League on Saturday with another controlled win, while Liverpool snapped their losing run and Manchester United salvaged a point after late drama at Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta’s side opened a seven-point lead after a 2-0 victory at Burnley, their ninth straight win in all competitions and further evidence of a title charge gathering confidence. Not since 2004 have Arsenal been crowned champions, but their blend of defensive order and attacking efficiency continues to set them apart this season.

Viktor Gyokeres’ close-range header in the 14th minute and a second from Declan Rice, also with a header, gave Arsenal full command at Turf Moor. The London club kept a seventh successive clean sheet and restricted Burnley to no shots on target, the third time they have achieved that feat this campaign.

“We knew it was going to be a tough test, but we had to stick to our principles,” Rice said. “In the end our quality shone through.”

Liverpool halt the slide

Liverpool ended a four-game league losing streak with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield. Villa threatened early when Morgan Rogers hit the post, but a miscued clearance by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in first-half stoppage time gifted Mohamed Salah his 250th Liverpool goal — placing him alongside Roger Hunt and Ian Rush in an elite group.

Ryan Gravenberch’s deflected strike after the interval killed off Villa’s resistance and lifted Liverpool to third, seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

United rescued by Diallo

Manchester United extended coach Ruben Amorim’s unbeaten start to four games, but let slip a chance to climb higher in the table after a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest. Casemiro’s header put United ahead, but Forest struck twice in five minutes through Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona.

“We lost control of the game for five minutes and we paid the price,” Amorim said.

United pressed late, with Bruno Fernandes hitting the post, before Amad Diallo levelled with a powerful left-footed volley from the edge of the box. He almost won it moments later, only to be denied by a clearance off the line.

Chelsea steady; Wolves sink

Chelsea recovered from last week’s defeat with a 1-0 win at Tottenham, Joao Pedro scoring the decisive goal. Spurs’ troubling home run continued, with no league win at their stadium since the opening day.

Wolves remain bottom after a 3-0 defeat at Fulham, their eighth loss in ten games. Ryan Sessegnon scored early, Emmanuel Agbadou was sent off, and second-half goals from Harry Wilson and a Yerson Mosquera own goal sealed another damaging result, heightening pressure on coach Vitor Pereira.
