The organisers of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix have lifted the ban on spectators entering the track after the race, restoring a long-standing tradition for fans at Albert Park.

F1 fans can rejoin track celebrations at Australian GP.

The organisers of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix have lifted the ban on spectators entering the track after the race, restoring a long-standing tradition for fans at Albert Park.

The ban was imposed after the 2023 event when spectators broke through safety barriers and entered the circuit before all cars had completed the race.

Some fans mistakenly believed the race had ended as cars were moving slowly behind the Safety Car. Footage from the incident showed spectators dangerously close to F1 cars, prompting a safety investigation and stricter crowd control measures.

Following a review of spectator behaviour at the 2024 race, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) has announced that the post-race track walk will return in 2025.

Organisers described the experience as a "cherished tradition" and confirmed that fans would once again be allowed onto the track to celebrate with the race winners.

"We're thrilled to announce the return of the End of Race Track Walk in 2025," the AGPC said in a statement. "It is a unique and cherished experience for fans seen the world over. At the conclusion of this year's race, fans will once again be given access to the track to help celebrate our 2025 winners."

The organisers assured ticket holders that they would receive further details on how to safely access the track ahead of next year’s event.

Steve Dimopoulos, Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, welcomed the decision, describing it as an exciting opportunity for F1 fans.

He said the move would allow spectators to get "up close and personal" with drivers and the winning team as they gathered near the start line. Fans will also be able to witness the podium celebrations and trophy presentation from a closer vantage point.

The return of the track walk is expected to be a major draw for attendees, as the Australian Grand Prix continues to set new records for crowd numbers.

Earlier this month, organisers revealed that the 2025 edition of the race, scheduled for 14-16 March, is expected to surpass the 2024 attendance record of 452,055 spectators.

The Australian Grand Prix is one of the most popular races on the Formula 1 calendar, often attracting large crowds to Albert Park in Melbourne.

The event has seen significant growth in recent years, with fans eager to experience the high-speed action and unique atmosphere of the race weekend.
