Jannik Sinner and Elina Svitolina produced impressive performances to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open 2025. Both players triumphed in their respective third-round matches, with Sinner cruising to a comfortable victory and Svitolina pulling off an unexpected upset.

World number one Jannik Sinner continued his dominant run in the men’s singles at the Australian Open, defeating Marcos Giron in straight sets.

The defending champion showcased his exceptional form at Melbourne Park, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just over two hours. Sinner’s performance was clinical, as he earned five breaks of serve and played aggressively throughout the match.

Despite committing 37 unforced errors, he made up for it with 35 winners, 24 more than Giron, and dominated his opponent with eight aces. His first serve win percentage stood at an impressive 82%, further highlighting his superiority on the court.

With this victory, the Italian star extended his winning streak to 32 matches from his last 33, a testament to his consistent and formidable form. Sinner will now face the winner of the match between Holger Rune and Miomir Kecmanovic in the fourth round, where he will aim to continue his quest for the title.

Elina Svitolina, on the other hand, produced a stunning comeback in her third-round match against fourth seed Jasmine Paolini. After losing the first set, Svitolina stormed back to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, in a match that lasted one hour and 46 minutes.

Paolini, who had taken the opening set with a strong showing, faltered in the following two sets as Svitolina took control of the match. The Ukrainian tennis star was relentless in the second and third sets, converting five break points and dictating the rallies with precision.

Paolini, in contrast, struggled to find her rhythm, especially in the final set, where she dropped three breaks and failed to capitalise on two break point opportunities.

Svitolina’s commanding performance was marked by 34 winners and seven aces, although she did make five double faults during the match. Nonetheless, her consistency and mental toughness led her to victory.

This marks Svitolina’s fifth appearance in the Round of 16 at the Australian Open, further solidifying her reputation as one of the top competitors in women’s tennis.

In the fourth round, Svitolina will face Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova, who advanced after defeating 15th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia. The match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both players aiming to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
