In response to India's recent poor performance in Test cricket, including a 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home and a 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, the BCCI has implemented strict measures to improve player focus.

Following a review meeting in Mumbai on Saturday attended by board officials, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and captain Rohit Sharma, the BCCI decided to reinstate a rule barring players' wives and family members from accompanying them on tours.

According to reports, this rule reversal aims to reduce distractions during tours, particularly overseas assignments, which officials believe can impact players' performance.

During the recent Australia tour, many cricketers' families were present throughout, prompting the board to limit family stays.

For tours lasting more than 45 days, families can accompany players for only 14 days; for shorter tours, the allowance is reduced to seven days.

Additionally, the BCCI enforced a new regulation prohibiting players from travelling separately. This measure aims to foster team unity, ensuring that all players travel together by team bus. The board emphasised that no exceptions will be made, regardless of a player's stature.

In a related move, the BCCI took action against Gautam Gambhir's manager, Gaurav Arora, who had been travelling with the team.

This departure from usual practice prompted the board to restrict Arora from staying in the team hotel, sitting in VIP stadium boxes, or using the team bus, signaling a stricter adherence to team management protocols.
