Last year’s champions, PSG and dominant Bayern Munich, on Wednesday secured wins in their respective quarter-final encounters against Liverpool and Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 season. PSG outclassed Liverpool, securing a 2-0 victory against the struggling English side, which has been performing poorly in recent times.
PSG extended their unbeaten record of eight straight wins in their last eight knockout games in the competition. Before downing Liverpool in the first leg of the round of eight clash, the French side had dominated them with an 8-2 aggregate in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, the strong German side, with the inclusion of Harry Kane, secured a thumping 2-1 victory against one of the tournament’s favourites, Real Madrid, in their first-leg encounter of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.
French star KylianMbappé scored Madrid’s sole goal after the visitors had already taken a two-goal advantage at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
English star Harry Kane scored the winning goal for the visitors, taking his side to victory in an intense quarter-final clash.
The result left Bayern with an edge ahead of the second leg in Germany next week as they try to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2023-24, when they were eliminated by eventual champions Madrid.
“We are still alive, clearly,” Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa said.
