Come November 2, all roads will lead to the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the stage for the grand finale of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The countdown has begun, and excitement among fans is reaching fever pitch. The city is already buzzing as cricket lovers prepare for what promises to be a “Sunday Funday” like never before.
“I only hope India make it to the semifinal,” said an enthusiastic spectator, Vaishali Pawar, her eyes fixed on the action as the Indian openers laid a strong foundation in their crucial league match against New Zealand on Thursday. The packed stands erupted with cheers each time Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana pierced the field, the tricolour waving proudly in every corner of the stadium.
The duo stitched a record 212-run partnership, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Every boundary was met with deafening roars, rhythmic chants of “India! India!” echoing across Navi Mumbai’s skyline. “This day is truly special, we got to see both Pratika and Smriti score centuries together,” beamed Vaishali, her face painted in the national colours. “The atmosphere here is electric. You can feel the pride, the passion, and the power of women’s cricket.”

Vaishali, a resident of Chembur and an opener for her local Chembur Cricket Club, has been a regular at DY Patil. For her, the rise of women’s cricket in India is personal. “Yes, women’s cricket is shaping beautifully in our country, especially here in Mumbai. The energy from the stands today tells you how much the game has grown.”
With South Africa, England, and Australia already sealing their semifinal spots, one of which will also be held at DY Patil on October 30 and the other in Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium, all eyes are now on Team India.
And if the home team makes it to the final, Navi Mumbai will not just host a match, it will host a celebration. Fireworks, flags, drums, and dreams, the grandest of finales awaits.
