Hockey India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday to hold the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup in Chennai and Madurai. The tournament will begin on November 28 and continue till December 10. The 2025 edition of the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup will feature 24 international teams for the first time.
Speaking at the announcement event, where the official logo of the tournament was also unveiled, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin said, "This is a proud moment not just for our state, but for the entire country. Hosting such a prestigious international tournament reflects our commitment to supporting and developing sport at all levels. We are confident that Chennai and Madurai will provide a world-class experience for athletes, officials, and fans from around the world. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that this tournament is organised with the highest standards of excellence.”
Stating that the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup is a crucial event in the international hockey calendar and a breeding ground for future legends of the sport, Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey said, “We are extremely pleased to partner with the Tamil Nadu government for this event.”
