PCB Unveils Upgraded Gaddafi Stadium Ahead of Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the much-awaited public inauguration of Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium will take place on February 7, just one day before the commencement of the tri-series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

This marks the beginning of an exciting cricketing season in Pakistan.

The renovation and upgradation of the historic Gaddafi Stadium have been completed in an impressive 117 days, with all improvements made in record time. The stadium is now ready to welcome international teams and fans, with an eye on hosting the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy.

Among the significant improvements are the installation of brighter LED lights and two larger, high-definition score screens. Additionally, all enclosures have received comfortable, imported seating to ensure that spectators enjoy an unparalleled viewing experience.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the teams involved in the stadium’s transformation. He thanked the workers, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), NESPAK, contractors, and the PCB team for their combined efforts in turning this ambitious project into a reality.

Naqvi proudly stated that the stadium is now at par with international standards, offering world-class facilities to both players and fans.

The public inauguration ceremony is set to be a grand affair, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif slated to officially unveil the new-look Gaddafi Stadium.

The ceremony will feature a dazzling array of fireworks, a spectacular light show, and live performances by renowned Pakistani singers such as Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig. A unique drum and fireworks display will add to the event’s excitement.

Naqvi also highlighted his personal involvement in the reconstruction process, mentioning his frequent visits to the site to monitor progress.

His dedication has ensured that the stadium boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including newly built hospitality boxes, as well as upgraded facilities for both players and spectators.

Alongside Gaddafi Stadium, other venues in Pakistan, including Karachi's National Stadium and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, are also undergoing similar upgradation efforts. These venues are being prepared to host matches for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to begin on February 19.
