Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a commanding 77 runs to move closer to the playoff spots in a high-scoring IPL encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday night.
Batting first, GT posted a formidable 229 for 4 in 20 overs. Rajasthan Royals could only manage 152 all out in 16.3 overs in reply.
Star performer for GT was Rashid Khan, who picked up four wickets, while Captain Shubman Gill played a superb knock of 84 runs. Gill and Sai Sudharsan (55) forged a dominant 118-run opening stand, setting a strong platform for the visitors.
For Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided a fiery start with 36 off just 16 balls, while Dhruv Jurel scored a quick 24 off 10. However, at 62 for 2 in five overs, RR lost momentum as GT’s bowlers, led by Rashid Khan (4/33), turned the game around completely.
With this victory, GT has now won four matches in a row and sits atop the points table alongside SRH with 14 points each.
