India lifted the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday, completing a commanding seven-wicket victory over Nepal in the final at Colombo’s P Sara Oval.
Opting to bowl, India kept Nepal to 114 for five, allowing only a solitary boundary throughout the innings. The disciplined performance set the platform for a brisk chase, which India wrapped up at 117 for three in just 12 overs.
Phula Saren anchored the reply with an unbeaten 44, ensuring India remained firmly in control as Nepal struggled to create pressure. The win capped a strong campaign for the side, who had earlier defeated Australia in the first semi-final. Nepal entered the title clash after overcoming Pakistan in the second semi-final on Saturday.

Co-hosts Sri Lanka endured a disappointing run, managing just a single win, against the USA, in their five preliminary fixtures.
Pakistan’s Mehreen Ali emerged as the standout batter of the six-team tournament. Classified as a B3, or partially sighted, player, she amassed more than 600 runs, including a blistering 230 off 78 balls against Sri Lanka and 133 against Australia, underlining her dominance despite her team’s exit before the final.
This title is a landmark for India, as it comes in the first-ever edition of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup. While India have enjoyed considerable success in men’s blind cricket, winning multiple ODI and T20 world cups over the past decade, this victory marks the women’s team’s maiden global triumph in the sport.
