India would kick off their T20 World Cup journey against Ireland on June 5, 2024, at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.


The Indian cricket team's 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has been officially disclosed, with no major surprises in the lineup. 

 

Rohit Sharma is set to helm the squad as captain, with Hardik Pandya assuming the role of vice-captain.

 

The announcement, made following a concise meeting involving BCCI secretary Jay Shah, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and skipper Rohit Sharma, who reportedly joined virtually, confirms the composition of the formidable squad.

 

The roster features notable talents including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav, alongside wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.

 

Also included are seasoned campaigners like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, bolstering India's prospects in the tournament.

 

Of particular note is the inclusion of Rishabh Pant, marking his return to competitive cricket through the ongoing IPL 2024. 

 

Expected to serve as the team's primary wicketkeeper, Pant will be backed by Sanju Samson in the crucial role.

 

 

To provide insights into the squad's composition and strategic outlook, Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar are scheduled to address a press conference on May 2nd at 4 pm (IST) at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

 

Alongside the primary squad, the announcement also introduced the reserves, comprising Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan, offering depth and flexibility to the team's roster.

 

India's campaign in the T20 World Cup commences with a clash against Ireland on June 5, 2024, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

 

The team will then face arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9, 2024, in a highly anticipated encounter, followed by matches against USA and Canada on June 12 and 15, respectively.
