India to tour Bangladesh for ODI, T20I series

India is set to tour Bangladesh in September for a three-match ODI and T20I series, with the Indian team arriving in Dhaka on August 28. The tour, postponed last year, offers both sides a chance to fine-tune squads ahead of key international fixtures, including the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday announced that India will tour Bangladesh in September for a three-match ODI series followed by three T20 internationals. The ODIs are scheduled for September 1, 3, and 6, while the T20Is will be played on September 9, 12, and 13. The Indian team is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 28.

This will mark India’s return to Bangladesh for a limited-overs series after last year’s planned tour was indefinitely postponed amid scheduling and logistical concerns. In July 2025, India’s six-match white-ball tour was deferred by more than a year. At the time, the BCCI and BCB had mutually agreed to postpone the series, citing international commitments and the need for scheduling convenience.

The upcoming tour will provide both teams an opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and other international fixtures. India and Bangladesh have a rich cricketing history, with both sides having played several bilateral series in recent years that have produced memorable matches and intense contests.

“The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and detailed fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course,” a BCB release said. It remains unclear, however, whether the Indian board will confirm travel amid current political uncertainties in Bangladesh, where the absence of a stable government has raised questions about security and operational arrangements.

This tour is expected to draw significant attention from fans in both countries, continuing the trend of high-profile cricket clashes between the subcontinental rivals, which consistently generate strong viewership and passionate on-field competition.
