India’s All Round Performance Leads to Easy 115 Run Victory.

In the second ODI of their series against the West Indies, the Indian women’s cricket team secured a resounding 115-run victory, sealing the three-match series in style.

Played at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, India’s dominant performance with the bat and ball ensured they extended their lead in the series.

India won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that paid off handsomely.

The top order fired on all cylinders, with Harleen Deol leading the charge with a brilliant 115 runs. Smriti Mandhana also played a vital role, contributing 53 runs, while Pratika Rawal and Jemimah Rodrigues added crucial fifties, with scores of 76 and 52, respectively.

The combined efforts of the top and middle order saw India post an imposing total of 358 for five in their 50 overs.

The West Indies, in response, faced a stiff challenge chasing down such a huge total. Despite a valiant knock from Hayley Matthews, who scored a composed 106 from 109 balls, the West Indies were all out for 243 in 46.2 overs.

Matthews fought hard at the top, but the Indian bowlers, led by Priya Mishra, proved too much to handle.

Mishra was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets, while Deepti Sharma, Titas Sadhu, and Rawal each contributed with two wickets apiece, tightening the noose around the West Indies’ batting order.

Earlier in the series, India had dominated the West Indies in the first ODI, winning by 211 runs. On that occasion, India’s total of 314/9 in their 50 overs was built around a superb knock from Mandhana, who made 91 runs.

Harleen Deol and Pratika Rawal also provided solid contributions, with scores of 44 and 40, respectively. The West Indies crumbled under pressure in their reply, being bowled out for a paltry 103 in just 26.2 overs.

Their batting collapse started early, with the loss of Qiana Joseph to a run out on the very first ball. Afy Fletcher’s unbeaten 24 was the highest score in their innings, as they failed to cope with India’s disciplined bowling attack.

The Indian team’s all-round dominance in both ODIs was evident, with strong performances in batting, bowling, and fielding. The team has clearly built momentum as they head into the final match of the series, having already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead.

With a balanced squad that includes established players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, and Smriti Mandhana, as well as emerging talents like Priya Mishra and Titas Sadhu, India’s performance in this series has been a testament to their depth and consistency across all departments.

As the series moves into its final ODI, the team will look to complete a clean sweep, while the West Indies will seek to salvage some pride and improve their performances in the final encounter.

India’s full squad for the series includes: Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Saima Thakor, Titas Sadhu, Renuka Thakur Singh, Priya Mishra, Uma Chetry, Minnu Mani, Tejal Hasabnis, Tanuja Kanwar.

The West Indies’ squad for the series comprises: Hayley Matthews (captain), Qiana Joseph, Rashada Williams, Deandra Dottin, Shemaine Campbelle (wicketkeeper), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shabika Gajnabi, Zaida James, Afy Fletcher, Karishma Ramharack, Shamilia Connell, Chinelle Henry, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Nerissa Crafton.
