The India Women's Kho Kho team has successfully secured their place in the final of the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 after a dominant 66-16 victory over South Africa in the semifinals on January 18.

The Indian team, led by Priyanka Ingle, has displayed remarkable form throughout the tournament, and they are now one step away from claiming the title in the inaugural edition of the Kho Kho World Cup.

The final, scheduled for January 19, will see India face Nepal in what promises to be an exciting showdown. India’s performance in the semifinal was a masterclass in both attacking and defensive strategies.

The team’s decision to defend first after winning the toss proved to be a tactical one, with India taking an early lead through a string of dream run points in the first turn. South Africa, after being put to attack, managed to score only 10 points in the opening turn, thanks to India's solid defence.

The Indian team’s dominance continued in the second turn, where they amassed 33 points, while South Africa only managed 10. The Indian defenders maintained their tight grip on the match, putting in relentless efforts to make the South African attackers work hard for every point.

By the third turn, India had secured another five dream run points, giving them a commanding 38-16 lead. With this, the outcome of the match was sealed in India’s favour, and they eventually triumphed with a final score of 66-16.

This victory marks a significant achievement for the Indian team, who have exceeded expectations in the tournament, especially considering it is the first edition of the Kho Kho World Cup.

Despite the impressive win, India did not hit the 100-point mark for the first time in the competition, but this does not take away from their dominant performance and tactical brilliance.

Priyanka Ingle and her team’s journey to the final has been a testament to their hard work, unity, and exceptional skills. The Indian team has shown resilience and determination in every match, and they are now focused on claiming the title in the final against Nepal.

The final clash promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams eager to make history by winning the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup.

Fans of the sport are eagerly anticipating the culmination of what has been an action-packed tournament, and India’s supporters are hopeful that the team will continue their winning streak and bring home the trophy.
