Mumbai’s Ishpreet Singh Chadha delivered a sensational performance in the CCI Snooker Classic 2025, etching his name in the record books by compiling a flawless 147 break.

The PSPB cueist achieved this historic feat during his quarterfinal clash against Dilip Kumar of Railways at the Wilson Jones Billiards Hall, located within the Cricket Club of India (CCI).

His commanding 5-0 victory was highlighted by his maiden maximum break in an open tournament, a momentous achievement for Indian snooker.

With this accomplishment, Ishpreet became only the third Indian to construct a perfect 147 break in a competitive event. He follows in the footsteps of legendary cueists Geet Sethi and Aditya Mehta.

Sethi had previously accomplished the feat at the 1988 Guntur Nationals, while Mehta achieved it twice—first at the Asian Games selection tournament in Bangalore in 2013 and later on the pro circuit in Germany.

The 28-year-old Ishpreet, who competes on the World Snooker Tour, is coached by two-time Asian snooker champion Yasin Merchant at Khar Gymkhana.

His remarkable effort left the spectators in awe as he demonstrated exceptional precision, poise, and control throughout the match.

His flawless shot execution and immaculate positional play ensured that he cleared the table with perfection, creating an unforgettable moment in the tournament.

On hearing about Ishpreet’s feat, Geet Sethi expressed his delight over the phone from Ahmedabad. “Oh, wow! This is wonderful news for Indian snooker. It’s moving in the right direction.

It’s been almost 40 years since I made the maximum. I congratulate Ishpreet on his magnificent effort,” he said.

Coach Yasin Merchant, visibly thrilled, remarked, “Yes, this is his first maximum. This is just the start, and we will witness many more in the future.”

The tournament also witnessed other thrilling performances. On an adjacent table, India’s snooker icon Pankaj Advani, the reigning Asian and National snooker champion, showcased his class by securing a comfortable 5-1 victory over Malkeet Singh of Railways.

Meanwhile, qualifier Faisal Khan continued his remarkable run, producing a dominant display to defeat National runner-up Brijesh Damani (PSPB) with a crushing 5-0 win in the quarterfinals.

Former National champion Kamal Chawla also put on a strong performance, eliminating CCI member Hasan Badami with a composed 5-1 (76-77, 63-49, 62-27, 56-8, 66-7, 71-51) victory.

Badami, however, had earlier displayed remarkable resilience in the pre-quarterfinals, where he pulled off an impressive 4-3 (77-15, 85-43, 8-63, 50-40, 25-74, 60-65, 84-23) win against Thailand’s Dechawat Poomjeang.

The CCI Snooker Classic 2025 continues to provide a platform for India’s top cueists to showcase their talent, and Ishpreet Singh Chadha’s historic 147 break has added another glorious chapter to the tournament’s legacy.
