Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by four wickets at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday night. The hosts chased down the target of 148 runs in 18.5 overs, courtesy of Manish Pandey’s 45 off 33 deliveries.
After being sent into bat, the MI batting line-up struggled against KKR’s initial burst. Both openers fell cheaply, with Ryan Rickelton scoring 6 while Cameron Green removed Naman Dhir for a duck.
Dubey continued the pressure and was rewarded with Rohit Sharma’s wicket, who fell for 15, while Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed shortly afterwards.
Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya tried to rebuild, adding 43 runs around a rain interruption, before Kartik Tyagi removed Varma for 20 of 32.
Will Jacks joined Pandya at the crease, but the skipper was removed by Sunil Narine for 26 of 27.
Jack was run out by Rinku Singh for 14, while Corbin Bosch’s quick-fire 32 off 18 lifted MI to 147.
Batting second, KKR’s line-up also suffered early blows, with Finn Allen being removed by Deepak Chahar while Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 21 off 17 balls.
Cameron Green managed only 4 before falling to Bosch. Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell then steadied the innings with a crucial 64-run stand.
Pandey’s 45 ended when Jasprit Bumrah struck, and Powell followed for 40 off Allah Ghazafar.
With this win, KKR now have 13 points with matches remaining, while MI slipped further following their ninth defeat of the season.
