Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in a one-sided IPL match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday night.
Batting first, Delhi scored 142 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs as the batters struggled on a slightly difficult wicket in the first innings. In response, Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target comfortably in 14.2 overs for the loss of just two wickets, courtesy of a brilliant hundred by New Zealand opener Finn Allen.
In the chase of 143, Allen smashed an unbeaten 47-ball century, studded with five fours and 10 sixes. He made the chase look relatively easy amid improved batting conditions in the second innings under lights.
For Delhi, Pathum Nissanka scored a quick-fire half-century while Ashutosh Sharma made 39 as DC posted 142 for 8 after being sent into bat by the visitors.
KL Rahul and Nissanka stitched a fiery 49-run opening stand. Rahul fell for 23, while Nissanka went on to slam his fifty (50 off 29 balls). Once the Sri Lankan batter fell, DC lost the plot.
Ashutosh Sharma’s fiery cameo (39 off 28) gave Delhi something to fight for.
