Kolkata Knight Riders ended Sunrisers Hyderabad’s five-match winning streak with a commanding seven-wicket victory in the Indian Premier League here on Sunday, riding on a disciplined bowling display led by Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine before completing a smooth chase with 10 balls to spare.
KKR first restricted SRH to 165 all out in 19 overs after triggering a dramatic middle and lower-order collapse, despite a strong opening assault from Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. The win marked KKR’s third straight victory, underlining their strong mid-season resurgence.
SRH had made a dominant start, reaching 77 for 1 in the powerplay and 107 for 2 at the halfway mark. Head was in destructive form, smashing 61 off 28 balls with nine fours and three sixes, while Kishan contributed 42 off 29 balls. The duo added 61 runs for the second wicket after a quick opening stand.

However, SRH’s innings collapsed dramatically after Head fell at the end of the ninth over. From a strong position, they lost nine wickets for just 60 runs, slipping to 165 all out in 19 overs. It was also SRH’s first all-out of the season.
Chakravarthy (3/36) led KKR’s spin attack, striking at crucial intervals to break SRH’s momentum, while Narine (2/31) complemented him effectively and also reached a major milestone by completing 200 wickets in the IPL, becoming only the third bowler in the league to achieve the feat. Kartik Tyagi also contributed with two wickets.
In response, KKR lost Finn Allen early for a quick 39 off 13 balls, but captain Ajinkya Rahane (43 off 36) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (59 off 47) steadied the chase with an 84-run partnership. Rahane anchored the innings while Raghuvanshi ensured momentum stayed with KKR through the middle overs.
Rinku Singh then finished the job in style, remaining unbeaten on 22 and hitting the winning boundary as KKR reached the target comfortably.
The result halted SRH’s strong run of form and boosted KKR’s momentum as they continue their push in the league stage.
