Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings shared a point each after their scheduled Indian Premier League match was abandoned due to incessant rain and bad playing conditions here on Monday night.
Kolkata captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first against Punjab, but the team suffered an early setback when Australian pacer Xavier Bartlett dismissed opener Finn Allen (6) and Cameron Green (4), leaving KKR struggling at 16 for two.
Rahane was on 8 and wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi was on 7 as they tried to steady the innings when rain halted play at 25 for two after just 3.4 overs.
With this draw, KKR earned their first point after suffering successive losses in their previous encounters.
PBKS also received a point and moved atop the table for the time being with five points from three games.
KKR now have one point from three matches, ahead of Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, who are yet to open their account.
Kolkata Knight Riders were 25 for 2 in 3.4 overs courtesy of Xavier Bartlett (2/9) when the match was abandoned due to unplayable conditions.
