In a thrilling encounter of the Women's Premier League, the Mumbai Indians showcased a flawless performance with both bat and ball to secure a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in a match held here on Saturday.

Opening batswomen Yastika Bhatia (31 runs off 15 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and Hayley Matthews (26 runs off 21 balls, 3x4, 1x6) orchestrated a formidable start, contributing 45 runs for the first wicket in just 3.5 overs, setting a solid foundation for MI. Capitalizing on this robust beginning, subsequent batters secured a commendable win by reaching the 132-run target with 29 balls to spare, propelling them to the top of the league table with six points.

MI's bowlers demonstrated efficiency, limiting RCB to a modest 131 for six. Bhatia initiated the Mumbai chase with a fiery start, displaying both power and finesse. Despite her dismissal by Sophie Devine, MI's momentum was sustained by Nat-Sciver Brunt (27 runs off 25 balls) and Amelia Kerr (40 not out off 27 balls), who effortlessly added 49 runs for the third wicket.

In the earlier innings, RCB faced a challenging situation, with skipper Smriti Mandhana (9 runs off 11 balls) falling victim to Issy Wong's precision. The top-order batters struggled to counter the disciplined MI bowlers, adopting a forceful approach that proved counterproductive. Pacer Pooja Vastrakar dismissed Richa Ghosh, while Brunt claimed the wicket of S Meghana.

Elysse Perry's unbeaten 44 runs (38 balls, 5x4) and Georgia Wareham's 27 runs (20 balls, 3x4) salvaged RCB's innings, adding 52 runs for the sixth wicket. Despite missing key players Harmanpreet Kaur and Shabnim Ismail due to injuries, Mumbai Indians showcased unwavering intensity in their second consecutive win.
