The Mumbai Indians are poised to face the Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, with a coveted spot in the final against the Delhi Capitals at stake.

 

The winner of the high-stakes encounter will advance to Saturday’s grand finale at the same venue. Mumbai Indians secured second place in the league standings with 10 points, having won five matches and lost three.

 

However, they enter the knockout fixture following an 11-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

 

Key players in focus


Nat Sciver-Brunt has been a standout performer for Mumbai, emerging as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 416 runs.

 

The team’s bowling attack will be spearheaded by Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews, both of whom have claimed 14 wickets in the season so far.

 

Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants finished third in the table with eight points, having won and lost four matches each. Their most recent outing ended in a narrow nine-run loss to Mumbai Indians.

Ashleigh Gardner has been Gujarat’s leading batter with 235 runs in eight matches, while Kashvee Gautam has been the side’s most effective bowler, taking 10 wickets in the competition.


As the defending champions, Mumbai Indians are seeking to make their second consecutive final appearance. Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, are aiming to reach their maiden WPL final.
