Indian sporting sensation Neeraj Chopra has been appointed as the sporting ambassador for the renowned Swiss luxury watch brand, OMEGA.

The collaboration comes ahead of Chopra's participation in the inaugural leg of the Diamond League in Doha.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the partnership, Chopra highlighted his excitement to align with the iconic brand, which holds a significant role in timekeeping at the Olympic Games.

"I am eagerly anticipating a fruitful association with OMEGA as the world gears up for the spectacle in Paris," Chopra said.

Chopra's accolades precede him, being the first Asian athlete to clinch an Olympic gold medal in javelin and securing gold in his event at the World Championship, marking a historic milestone in Asian athletics.

Notably, OMEGA has been entrusted with the responsibility of Official Timekeeper at nearly every Olympic Games since 1932.

The forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympics will mark the 31st occasion of OMEGA's tenure as the Official Timekeeper of the Games, solidifying its enduring legacy in sports timekeeping.

Following his appearance in the Diamond League, Chopra is slated to make his competitive return to Indian soil after a three-year hiatus, as he heads to Bhubaneswar for the Federation Cup athletics championship.

Chopra, is set to kickstart his Paris Games preparations in the first leg of the prestigious Diamond League meet on Friday.

The 26-year-old Indian athlete will confront a formidable lineup of competitors, including former world champion Anderson Peters from Grenada and Olympic and world-medalist Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic.

Chopra's fellow and Asian Games silver-medalist, Kishore Jena, will also make his Diamond League debut, adding another layer of competition.

Jena boasts a personal best of 87.54m, while Chopra holds the national record with an impressive 89.94m throw.
