Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is poised to make a triumphant return to his homeland after a three-year hiatus, confirming his participation in the National Federation Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar from May 12 to 15.

 

The anticipation for Chopra's homecoming has been palpable, with fans eagerly awaiting his presence on Indian soil once again. This marks his first domestic appearance since March 17, 2021, when he clinched gold with an impressive throw of 87.80m.

 

Fresh from his opening season endeavor in the prestigious Diamond League series scheduled for May 10 in Doha, Chopra will grace the tracks of Bhubaneswar alongside fellow athlete Kishore Kumar Jena, silver medalist at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

 

The Athletics Federation of India took to Twitter to announce the participation of both Chopra and Jena in the forthcoming competition, signaling a momentous occasion for Indian athletics enthusiasts.

 

Chopra's coach, Klaus Bartonietz, has also affirmed his ward's involvement in the Bhubaneswar event, further adding to the excitement surrounding his return to domestic competition.

 

While the 26-year-old sensation has achieved remarkable success on the global stage, including securing historic victories at the Tokyo Olympics and the World Championships, he remains determined to surpass the elusive 90m mark.

 

Despite holding a personal best and national record of 89.94m, Chopra's unwavering dedication to excellence continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
