In a milestone for Tripura's sports infrastructure, the state has unveiled its first synthetic athletic track at the Regional Physical Education College in Panisagar, North District.
The inauguration, scheduled for July 2, will be officiated by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha.
Sports Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy expressed satisfaction after inspecting the state-of-the-art facility, highlighting its significance as Tripura’s maiden modernised athletic track.
"This is a historic moment for Tripura as we introduce our first-ever modernized athletic track. The facility, originally slated for inauguration on June 29, has been rescheduled to July 2. It represents our commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and providing top-tier facilities to our youth and athletes," remarked Minister Roy.
Emphasizing the government’s strides in sports development, Minister Roy underscored ongoing efforts to bolster infrastructure, including plans for synthetic football grounds and other upcoming projects.
Local athletes have eagerly anticipated the track’s opening, foreseeing improved training opportunities and enhanced performance standards.
The synthetic track is poised to host a spectrum of athletic events, from grassroots competitions to statewide championships, fostering a conducive environment for budding talents.
Funded by the state government and supported by the Sports Authority of India, the project is commited to advanced technology and materials meeting international standards, the track promises not only to benefit current athletes but also to inspire future generations to embrace sports, promoting a culture of fitness and competitive excellence.
