New Zealand Cricket is set to dispatch a security delegation to Pakistan preceding their upcoming five-match T20 International series scheduled for April this year.
Reliable sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed that the delegation will be led by esteemed private security expert Reg Dickason, alongside Heath Mills, a senior official from the NZ Players Association.
Dickason, renowned for his role as a regular security consultant for the ICC and various cricket boards during high-profile tours to Pakistan, brings invaluable expertise to the delegation.
Scheduled for early March, the delegation's itinerary includes visits to Lahore and Rawalpindi, the proposed venues for the T20I matches.
The Kiwi team's impending visit is not a part of the ICC Future Tours Programme but rather a reciprocal visit following Pakistan's participation in a five-match T20I series in New Zealand earlier this year.
During their visit, the security delegation will conduct comprehensive assessments of the match venues and team accommodations. Additionally, meetings with government and security officials are scheduled to review and finalize security protocols for the visiting team.
The decision to send a security delegation comes in the wake of a previous security threat that led to the abrupt cancellation of a planned series in September 2021.
Subsequently, New Zealand returned to Pakistan in the 2022–23 season to fulfil their fixtures, including Test matches, ODIs, and a separate white-ball series.
