Manchester City secured their place in the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle, marking their seventh consecutive season reaching this stage.
The match saw young talent Nico O’Reilly shine, scoring twice to help City come from behind after the Championship side took an early lead.
Plymouth Argyle stunned the home crowd by scoring first, with Maksym Talovierov heading in from a corner just before halftime. City, who had dominated possession, found an equaliser in stoppage time when Kevin De Bruyne’s precise free-kick was met by O’Reilly’s glancing header.
After the break, City intensified their attack. Erling Haaland had a close-range effort saved, but moments later, O’Reilly once again made his mark. The 19-year-old connected with Phil Foden’s corner at the back post, giving City the lead with his second headed goal of the match.
With Plymouth pushing for an equaliser, City sealed the win in stoppage time. De Bruyne tapped in from a Haaland assist, ensuring the seven-time FA Cup winners moved comfortably into the next round.
Pep Guardiola praised his team’s performance, highlighting the composure and patience shown against a well-organised Plymouth side. He also commended O’Reilly, Jack Grealish, and Vitor for their contributions, emphasising the team’s steady progress.
City will now prepare for the quarterfinals, aiming to continue their strong run in the competition as they seek another trophy this season.
