Panda sisters crash out of Japan Open

The Indian women’s doubles pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda suffered a straight-game defeat to Kokona Ishikawa and Maiko Kawazoe of Japan to crash out in the opening round of the Japan Open Super 750 badminton tournament on Tuesday.

 

Rutaparna and Swetaparna, ranked 39th, were no match for the Japanese pair of Ishikawa and Kawazoe, who dominated the contest right from the word and won the match 21-13, 21-7 in just 32 minutes.

 

India's top shuttlers, including double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, will be in action in the tournament on Wednesday.
