Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Tuesday removed from the vice-captaincy role in India’s Test side for the upcoming one-off match against Afghanistan and was also left out of the ODI squad for the subsequent three-match series against the same opponents.
KL Rahul has replaced Pant as vice-captain of the Indian Test team, which will continue to be led by Shubman Gill. Fast-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from both the Test and ODI series as part of workload management, though he is expected to return for India’s tour of England later this summer. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been rested for the one-off Test by the national selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar.

Both players are teammates at IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Prince Yadav is the new addition to the ODI squad, while Ishan Kishan returns as the second wicketkeeper in the limited-overs setup.
