Australia pacer Pat Cummins became the first hat-trick taker in the ongoing T20 World Cup during the team's Super Eights match against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

Cummins, aged 31, claimed the wickets of Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan with the last two deliveries of the 18th over. He then dismissed Towhid Hridoy on the first ball of the final over, achieving figures of 3/29.

This hat-trick is the seventh in T20 World Cup history and the second for an Australian. Brett Lee was the first Australian to achieve this feat, also against Bangladesh, during the inaugural 2007 tournament. Lee's hat-trick was the first in T20 World Cup history.

The exclusive list of bowlers who have taken T20 World Cup hat-tricks includes Ireland's Curtis Campher (2021) and Joshua Little (2022), Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga (2021), South Africa's Kagiso Rabada (2021), and UAE's Karthik Meiyappan (2022).

Cummins' achievement adds to Australia's storied legacy in the T20 World Cup, highlighting his prowess and marking a memorable moment in the tournament.
