Pune clinches double title at Asmita Hockey State League

Pune emerged victorious in both the junior and sub-junior categories of the Asmita Hockey State League 2025, securing a dominant double title at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in Nehrunagar-Pimpri.

Pune dominates junior and sub-junior Asmita Hockey finals.


Pune emerged victorious in both the junior and sub-junior categories of the Asmita Hockey State League 2025, securing a dominant double title at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in Nehrunagar-Pimpri.

 

The finals saw Pune deliver identical 9-0 victories. In the sub-junior category, they outclassed Nagpur with an impressive performance led by Avni Rawat, who scored six goals.

 

She found the net in the 27th, 35th, 39th, 49th, 53rd, and 58th minutes, with four of her goals coming from penalty corners. 

 

Supporting her were Arpita Konjare, who scored twice in the 6th and 48th minutes, and Caelyn Nesamani, who added another in the 26th minute.

 

In the junior final, Pune overwhelmed Mumbai City with another 9-0 win. Tanushree Kadu netted three goals in the 6th, 42nd, and 57th minutes, while Sanika Mane also scored a hat-trick with goals in the 11th, 22nd, and 27th minutes.

 

Sanjana Khetawat contributed a brace in the 15th and 53rd minutes, while Diksha Shinde completed the scoring in the 34th minute.

 

In the third-place play-off, Satara edged past Kolhapur with a 2-1 win. Vedika Waghmore opened the scoring for Satara in the 19th minute, and Shruti Bhosale sealed the victory in the 58th. Kolhapur’s only goal came from Parnita Chavan in the 33rd minute.

 

The winning teams in both categories received cash awards, with the champions earning ₹2 lakh, the runners-up ₹1.6 lakh, and the third-place teams ₹1.2 lakh.

 

In the final standings, Pune topped the sub-junior category, followed by Mumbai City in second and Thane in third. In the junior category, Pune again claimed the title, with Nagpur finishing as runners-up and Thane securing third place.

 

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Pandurang Chate (I.R.S.), Regional Director (VC) of the Sports Authority of India, along with Pankaj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Sports, PCMC, and Dhananjay Mahadik, Deputy Commissioner of State GST.
