Many Punjab players are representing the state in the Paris Olympic Games scheduled for next month and will be getting ₹15 lakh per player for their preparation, as announced by the state's sports ministry. Punjab offers cash prizes of ₹3 Cr, ₹2 Cr, and ₹1 Cr for Olympic Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists respectively, announces Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh, Meet Hayer.
During Meet Hayer's meeting with Punjab Civil Secretariat and other sports officials, the minister emphasised releasing preparation funds for Punjabi Olympic athletes.
At present, 6 shooters have been selected; more await selection in Hockey, Shooting, and Athletics pending national team announcements.
The positive outcomes of the recently introduced sports policy led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann are beginning to surface, and the announcement of money prize allocation has been made according to that.
