India Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa will flag off the 8th edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon on November 24. The race will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park in Gujrat.
"I'm excited to be part of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon. Like in chess, a marathon requires strategy, determination, and the will to push beyond your limits. This event promotes fitness and supports our armed forces, making it even more meaningful,” said R Praggnanandhaa.
The marathon is part of the "#Run4OurSoldiers" campaign, which honours the country’s armed personnel dedicated to their welfare.
The event aims to highlight a strong connection between the sporting community and the armed forces. Over 2,500 defence personnel took part in last year’s event.
“Being the only marathon dedicated to soldiers through the #Run4OurSoldiers initiative has made the Ahmedabad Marathon special. Since its start in 2017, it has quickly become one of India's most awaited marathon races,” said Pranav Adani, Director, of Adani Enterprises.
Athlete-actor Saiyami Kher will accompany Praggnanandhaa.
The categories of the event include the full marathon of 42.195 Km, half marathon of 21.097 Km, 10 Km run and 5 Km.
This edition will be the second picturesque event to be held at locations like Gandhi Ashram, Atal Bridge, and Ellis Bridge.
The occasion has an audience traction of over 22,000 participants.
The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is empowered by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
Saiyami Kher is the first Indian actor to finish the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Germany in September 2024. "The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has become one of the most talked-about events on the running calendar, and it's a great honour to be associated with it,” she said.
