India’s Rakshitha Ramraj rallied from a game down to defeat compatriot Tanvi Sharma and book her place in the Korea Masters 2026 semifinals on Friday. Rakshitha overcame Tanvi 18-21, 21-19, 21-19 in a closely fought quarterfinal at the Asan Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium, ending her compatriot’s impressive run at the BWF World Tour event.

 

Tanvi, who had been eyeing another deep run after her recent breakthrough on the international circuit, took the opening game and looked on course to secure another semifinal appearance. Rakshitha, however, fought back strongly, levelled the contest and held her nerve in a tight decider to complete the comeback.

 

The victory also extended Rakshitha’s dominance in the head-to-head record against Tanvi to 4-0. Rakshitha’s reward is another all-Indian battle in the last four, where she will face Ashmita Chaliha.

 

Ashmita produced one of the day’s notable results by knocking out top seed Hina Akechi 20-22, 21-15, 21-19. After narrowly losing the opening game, the Indian shuttler turned the contest around to register a three-game victory and secure her semifinal spot.

 

India’s campaign in the women’s and mixed doubles events, meanwhile, came to an end. Sonali Singh and Ritika Thaker were beaten 21-15, 21-9 by seventh-seeded Japanese pair Sumire Nakade and Miyu Takahashi in the women’s doubles quarterfinals.

 

In mixed doubles, sixth seeds Ishaan Bhatnagar and Shruti Mishra went down 21-16, 16-21, 21-13 to South Korea’s Shin Tae-yang and Kim Yu Jung.

 

India will still have a presence in the men’s doubles, with Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Krishna Prasad Garaga set to face Malaysian pair Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik for a place in the semifinals. Ranked 118th in the world, Roy and Garaga had produced an upset in the opening round by defeating fourth seeds Worrapol Thongsa-nga and Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn of Thailand.

 

Earlier, Anmol Kharb’s campaign ended in the pre-quarterfinals after she went down 23-21, 15-21, 21-18 to Vietnamese Olympian Vu Thi Trang.

 

India’s Arjun Reddy Pochana and Achutaditya Rao Doddavarapu also exited in the men’s doubles first round following a 21-3, 21-10 loss to second seeds Choi Sol Gyu and Goh V Shem of South Korea.

 

In the women’s doubles, Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra were beaten 21-15, 21-13 by Japan’s second-seeded pair Ririna Hiramoto and Kokona Ishikawa in the opening round.
