"You guys watch, I will also be lifting the World Cup," declared an elated Rinku Singh after Kolkata Knight Riders secured their third IPL title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets on Sunday night.
The Knight Riders showcased an impressive batting lineup throughout the tournament, with Rinku contributing significantly. Despite only batting in 11 innings, the 26-year-old scored 168 runs at a striking rate of 148.67.
Speaking to 'Jio Cinema', Rinku shared his immediate plans. "I am headed to Noida first, and then, I will be going to the United States of America. You guys watch, I will also be lifting the World Cup."
Rinku's omission from India's World Cup squad had sparked debate, but he remains a key reserve, alongside star batter Shubman Gill, for the upcoming T20 showpiece in the Americas.
Reflecting on KKR’s success this season, Rinku credited the entire team and praised mentor Gautam Gambhir, who returned to the franchise after seven years.
"You can't credit just one person because everyone has worked hard. Since GG (Gautam Gambhir) sir came, a lot of things have changed. Sending Sunil (Narine) early, he batted so well," Rinku said.
He also highlighted the collective effort of the team, noting, "The batters played well, and the bowling was great. Venky (Venkatesh Iyer) has been batting really well for the last five-six matches, so overall, everyone has done really well."
