The great Sachin Tendulkar praised his son Arjun Tendulkar for showing patience and determination after the left-arm pacer delivered a commendable performance on his debut for Lucknow Super Giants in their final game of the ongoing IPL season.

Arjun, who had impressed during net sessions and practice matches, finally got his opportunity in the team’s last fixture of the campaign. Following the match, which LSG lost to Punjab Kings, Sachin shared an emotional message on social media applauding his son’s perseverance.

“Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you’ve conducted yourself throughout the season — always trusting your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite waiting until the final match for your chance.

“Cricket tests temperament as much as talent, and you handled both brilliantly today. Stay grounded and continue loving the game the way you always have. Love you always,” Sachin wrote.

Arjun began confidently, delivering a disciplined opening over and nearly claiming a wicket when skipper Rishabh Pant dropped a difficult catch offered by Prabhsimran Singh. After sticking to good lengths in his initial spell, the youngster produced a sharp yorker in the 15th over to trap Prabhsimran lbw.

Pant introduced Arjun immediately after the powerplay, and the pacer went on to bowl the ninth, 15th, and 17th overs, finishing with figures of 1 for 36. The 26-year-old has previously represented Mumbai Indians as well.

Being the son of one of cricket’s greatest icons, Arjun has remained under scrutiny from an early age. Reports suggest that a section of the LSG support staff had pushed for him to receive opportunities earlier in the season, but his debut eventually came only in the team’s final outing.
