Mohammed Shami, India's leading fast bowler who is on the mend from ankle surgery, is anticipated to return to the cricket field during the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh later this year, as per BCCI secretary Jay Shah's statement to reporters.
Shami was unable to participate in the five-match Test series against England and will also be absent from the IPL following his Achilles tendon surgery last month. Furthermore, he will not be part of the T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by the West Indies and the USA in June.
Shami's last appearance for India was during the ODI World Cup, where he emerged as a key player for the team. The series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in India, will include two Test matches and three T20 Internationals in September.
"Shami has undergone surgery and is currently in India. We are expecting him to be ready for the Bangladesh series at home. Meanwhile, KL Rahul has received an injection, has begun his rehabilitation, and is currently at the NCA," Shah mentioned in a discussion with reporters.
KL Rahul was unable to play in the last four Tests against England due to discomfort in his right quadriceps but is expected to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL after receiving treatment in London.
